The 24 Hour Human Hamster Wheel Challenge

A charity fundraising challenge like no other taking place in Southend soon!

Men's captain Dean Ovel has built a human-sized hamster wheel which he will run in for 24 hours from midday Saturday 21st May – midday Sunday 22nd May. The wheel will be based outside the Odeon cinema at the top of Southend High Street with local bands, orchestras and choirs providing entertainment as well as competitions for children and adults. Dean is raising money for the Southend Hospital Dementia Appeal.

How to get involved:

  • Donate and ask others to donate: www.justgiving.com/human-hamster

  • Promote the event to everyone - family, friends, work, school, church, kids clubs etc

  • Social Media – Join & invite others to join the Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/838116733000494 and follow on Twitter: @human_hamster16

  • Cycle-a-mile – min £5 donation – on the day cycle a mile alongside Dean on stationary spin bikes and be in with a chance of winning a Giant mountain bike, gym membership & racing goodies

  • Handome Hamster – kids enter for free with a photo or drawing of their Handsome Hamster (ravishing rodent or gorgeous guinea pig!) for prizes including bowling, megazone, family meals out & many others

  • How far can one man run? – guess how far Dean will run in miles to win from a selection of prizes including £150 voucher for cocktails & food with friends at the Royal Hotel, £150 photo-shoot and canvas at PerfectPicturePro or dinner at the Pipe of Port. Enter your estimate on the justgiving page as part of your message, or, if you've already donated, just let us know.
